An Old-Fashioned Girl with a 90s Twist

Mairearad (pronounced Mah-rade) is my Gaelic name. I have Scottish heritage through my great-grandmother who was a Kincaid. I have learned that I have a lot in common with her such as hair colour, lacy things, and hats. Because of this I have embarked on a life-long quest of learning about my Scottish heritage and sharing my knowledge with others who are interested. I started the Scottish Heritage Society which is a bimonthly newsletter for that purpose. I have close to thirty members!

My husband and I dream of finding a secluded 50 acre farm and going back to basics. I would also like to run a bed and breakfast from that farm. I'd like to devote my time to needlework, writing fiction (hopefully publishing a few of the books I have started), editing my newsletter and tending an herb garden. We have already started making our own soap. We'd like to get an herbal soap business started. We plant a garden every year. I've learned how to can our vegetables and make pickles. I enjoy the simpler things in life, but I couldn't live without my computer!

Our family is also strongly rooted in the Christian Faith. We are dedicated to serving God, and I am currently working on a series of lessons for Christian women to help them find their place in today's church. I've been learning a lot myself through this!

I created these webpages because (1)I love playing on the computer, (2)I like to make friends over the internet, (3)I'm trying to find more members for my Scottish newsletter and (4)to hopefully help others by sharing what I've learned through personal experience and study. Please, browse around. I hope you find something interesting and will keep coming back. Take a moment to drop me a line. I welcome your questions, thoughts and comments.
